In the field of high-voltage electrical engineering, every technological breakthrough carries the era's profound expectations for energy interconnectivity. When the 640kV Ultra-High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) Cable Comprehensive Performance Test Platform rose from the ground in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, and was successfully commissioned, behind it stood a team with innovation embedded in its genes.


On October 18, 2024, Shenghua Electric participated in the High-Voltage Equipment Testing & On-Site Testing Technology Forum and the Development Seminar for the Standardization System of the High-Voltage Test Technical Committee. The conference focused on cutting-edge exchanges in high-voltage equipment testing technology, discussions on the development of the industry's standard system, promoting technological advancement and standardization in the high-voltage electrical sector, and fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across the industrial chain.


Amidst the intellectual exchange at the "High-Voltage Equipment Testing & On-Site Testing Technology Forum," team members engaged in in-depth discussions surrounding high-voltage test standard systems and on-site testing technologies. Following the commissioning of China's first long-term live HVDC cable comprehensive performance test platform in 2024, the State Grid Zhoushan Power Supply Company's "Guojiao No.1" team once again charged towards a new technological summit. Their independently developed 640kV UHVDC Cable Test Platform not only filled the gap in China's independent testing capability for 640kV and below DC cables but also established a foundational "technological base" to support the research and development of cables at even higher voltage levels.


Crucially, the "SF6 Gas-Insulated Test Transformer" project, executed by the Shenghua Electric team, successfully passed comprehensive acceptance for this construction project. This equipment is responsible for supplying the high-voltage electrical power to the test platform, supporting the comprehensive performance testing of UHVDC cables. Working in conjunction with DC high-current generators and insulation support platforms, it enables independent testing of DC cables up to 640kV, providing key technological support for the development of higher voltage level cables and the exploitation of offshore clean energy.


Standing tall on the test site in Zhoushan, the platform's metal framework embodies the team's countless days and nights of dedication: from thousands of rounds of test plan verification to millimeter-level precision control during equipment installation, every detail reflects an unwavering commitment to "independent innovation." This breakthrough has allowed China to completely break free from external dependence in the core testing domain of HVDC cables, injecting "Chinese momentum" into technological iteration.
